There are currently 330 apps and games released for the Fire TV. With more being added everyday, there certainly isn’t a shortage of apps to try. But if you’re like us and just can’t get enough of apps to try, here is a list of compatible apps you can sideload on your Amazon Fire TV. - AMObox TV – Works perfectly fine.
- Acceler8 – Works with 360 controller.
- Actual Movie Trailers – Works perfectly fine.
- AioTV – Works great.
- Alarm Clock Plus – Works OK.
- Any Send – Works fine.
- AutoPilot – Works great!
- Bard’s Tale – Works. Tested with the Ouya controller.
- Beats, Advanced Rhythm Game – Works fine.
- Beyond Ynth HD – Works perfectly.
- BubbleUPnP – Works great.
- Carcassonne – Works great. Did not test the in-game purchasing.
- Chrome Browser – Works perfectly aside from the 1st time you run it. The first time, the license agreement chucks the app sideways into portrait mode. if you can manage to click the large blue button, quit, and restart, it will be back in normal/usable landscape mode.
- Cordy 2 – Works great!
- Crunchyroll – Works great.
- DiskUsage – Works.
- DramaFever for Google TV – Works.
- DroidEdit – Works.
- Dropbox – Works great.
- Ebay – Amazon remote, 360 controller and KB/mouse work perfect.
- ePSXe – Works will. Tested with the 360 and FireTV controllers.
- ES File Manager – Works great.
- ES Task Manager – Works great.
- Fields of Battle – Free Ouya game. Works fine.
- Firefox Beta Browser – Works great.
- FTP Server – Works
- GENPlusDroid – Works great.
- Grooveshark – Works Fine.
- Helium Boy – Works perfectly
- IP Cam Viewer – Works great.
- Jackpal Android Terminal – Works perfectly fine.
- K9mail – Works great. On first launch, the screen has 2 buttons at the bottom “import settings” and “next”. The 2 buttons don’t show up (i.e. the text is invisible) until you scroll down on the remote (then the button text shows up) – but after getting past that, the apk worked fine.
- Limelight – Works as it should
- Llama – Works great!
- MX Player – (Pro) – Both versions work great.
- My Boy – Works great. Tested with a PS4 controller.
- NESLite – Works perfectly.
- Netflix – Works great (I know this is an app available on the amazon store, however if you imported the firetv from the US to another country, you get a msg stating that the movie is region restricted, even when the content that’s displayed is the proper content for your region.)
- Pac Man CE – Works prefectly.
- PicaSim: Free flight simulator – working with x360 controller, will be testing a real RC controller soon.
- PlayOn – Works.
- PPSSPP – Works. Tested using a 360 controller.
- Quadrant – Works.
- Reicast – Works great.
- RetroArch – Tested with the 360 controller.
- ROM Buddy – Works. (Might require some path changes)
- Root Explorer – Works
- Rotate Screen Orientation – Works.
- Shadowgun – Tested with the Ouya controller.
- Snes9x EX+ – Works great.
- Spark – At the moment, there is a little bit of lag. You also have to compile your own apk.
- SPMC – Works great
- Subsonic Music Streamer – Works.
- Task Manager – Works Fine.
- TeamViewer QuickSupport – Works very well.
- Time Zone Changer – Works great.
- Tiny Cam Monitor Free – Works great.
- TWIT Pro – Everything works perfectly.
- Viki for Google TV – Works
- VLC for Android – Working perfectly. Remote buttons work and I tested a 1080p video (with dts 4.1 audio) file and it played perfectly.
- VPlayer – Works.
- WiFi File Explorer – Works.
- XBMC(Gotham) – Works Great! Download the latest ARM release.
- XDA Developers – Works fine.
The below apps work, but may have some limitations.
- 3CX DroidDesktop – Works, but requires a screen orientation changer.
- Accuweather – Requires mouse/air mouse.
- Airdroid – Works, but requires a screen orientation changer.
- AirReceiver – (Pro) – Works with remote but seems to stutter and freeze a bit.
- AndroIRC – Requires Keyboard.
- BaconReader – Requires mouse / air mouse.
- Charter TV – Requires mouse and charter service. Side-scrolling lists crashes the app.
- Classic Words – Confirmed working with a mouse. Not tested with a controller. Might work with a controller.
- Clean Master – Works, but requires a screen orientation changer and a mouse/air mouse. Occasionally crashes.
- CNN – Works with mouse. Live CNN & HLN works with select service provider accounts.
- Dish Anywhere – Requires mouse / air mouse.
- Encore Play – Works. Requires mouse.
- Epix – Works. Requires mouse.
- Facebook – Requires mouse/air mouse to post status update.
- Foozle – Requires mouse / air mouse.
- Google Earth – Requires mouse / air mouse.
- HDHomeRun – Requires Mouse keyboard and video is choppy.
- HBO Go – Requires mouse / air mouse.
- HSdroid – Looks perfect, kinda need mouse for ease of use. Streams load and play in HD, logging in works fine.
- Kainy – It seems to work ok after you get everything setup with a mouse that you need to. Games seem somewhat playable, a bit laggy but that could be because my internet connection is not the fastest. – Can others test?
- Kindle – Works with keyboard/mouse. In-app store inaccessible. Must use a browser to add content through amazon.
- Microsoft Remote Desktop – Works. Requires mouse and only displays at 1080p.
- NBC Live Extra – Works with orientation manager and mouse. Clunky interface, but streams hockey games.
- Orientation Manager – Works if you have a touchpad device or a mouse.
- Pocket Casts – Requires Keyboard and mouse / air mouse.
- Police Scanner Radio Scanner – Works with orientation manager.
- PopCat – Requires Screen Orientation change and a mouse/airmouse.
- PPB Kids Play and Learn – Requires Mouse/Air mouse.
- RE-VOLT 2 : Best RC 3D Racing – Works with the 360 controller but requires a mouse for the menu.
- Rhapsody – Requires mouse.air mouse and keyboard.
- Retro Game Boy and Advance – Requires mouse / air mouse to select the rom.
- Rotation Manager – Works great. Requires Mouse/Airmouse.
- Simple TV – Works, but a keyboard/mouse is needed.
- SiriusXM – Works, but requires a screen orientation changer.
- Snappea – Works, but requires a screen orientation changer. Requires WIFI. If connected VIA ethernet, it will not work.
- Speedtest – Requires orientation changer and mouse.
- Slacker Radio – Requires an orientation changer.
- Spotify – Works, but requires an screen orientation changer.
- Starz Play – Works. Requires mouse.
- Terminal Emulator – Works, but needed keyboard to work well.
- TNT – Works, but requires a screen orientation changer.
- Tower Defense – Requires Mouse/Air Mouse.
- Tumblr – Requires keyboard and mouse / air mouse.
- TWC TV – Works but requires a mouse/air mouse, an orientation changer, and you have to turn ADB Debugging off.
- Twitter – Requires keyboard and mouse / air mouse.
- Ultimate Rotation Control – Gives a “Can’t retrieve content” error. Requires mouse / air mouse.
- U-Verse – Works if you can get past the first screen.
- WatchESPN – Requires Keyboard/mouse/air mouse.
- Wifi Analyzer – Works with mouse.
- Yahoo Mail – Works, but requires a screen orientation changer and mouse/air mouse.
- YouTube for TV – Can view videos but can’t login to your account.
- XFINITY TV Go – Works but requires mouse and keyboard.
